Abhijeet Dipke’s family, who live in the MIDC Waluj area of Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, have been provided with protection, the police said.

Police protection has been provided at the family home of Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the satirical digital outfit, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), on Sunday (May 24, 2026), to ensure there was “no crowding”.
Mr. Dipke’s family, who live in the MIDC Waluj area of Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, have been provided with protection, the police said.
“The protection is to ensure that there is no crowding around his residence as the CJP is trending online,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Atulkar told media persons.
The CJP has gained significant traction from online users of all walks of life. The CJP was founded after the Chief Justice of India Surya Kant referred to “cockroaches” and “parasites” during a court hearing.
On Saturday (May 23, 2026), Mr. Dipke claimed he was receiving threats, while attempts had been made to hack the CJP’s account, as well as crackdown on its social media handles. Mr. Atulkar, however, denied that protection had been provided in response to threats, or any formal complaint.
‘Potential public unrest’
Meanwhile, Congress party leaders claimed the Intelligence Bureau had warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the CJP’s campaign could trigger unrest in the country. The IB report had warned the PM of a “potential public unrest”, resulting in content being blocked, Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole alleged. “The government took action based on the report that the campaign could intensify,” Mr. Patole said.
Senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for suppressing dissent. “The BJP is not addressing the people’s issues and is instead refusing [to allow] social media accounts,” Mr. Thorat said.
