The Manjeswaram police have registered a case against two persons for allegedly threatening the driver of a pickup vehicle transporting cattle at Bayar, near the Karnataka border.

The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Ibrahim Khalil. The police named Puneet as one of the accused, while another person is yet to be identified.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Saturday (May 23, 2026) at Kallagadde.

Mr. Khalil alleged that the accused threatened him, hurled abuses, and warned that cattle would not be allowed to be transported through the route.

The Manjeswaram police have registered a case.

Residents said similar incidents had occurred earlier in Bayar in the name of preventing alleged cattle smuggling. Following earlier incidents, the police had installed CCTV cameras in the area as part of security measures. However, locals alleged that many of the cameras were not functioning properly.

The police said night patrol has been intensified in the border areas.
