An attempt by four persons to abduct a cab driver along with his friend near Bagaluru in northeastern Bengaluru in the early hours of Friday was foiled by the police.

The attempt was thwarted after a swift response by the Hoysala team following an emergency call made by one of the victims.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Friday when four individuals, who had arrived from the airport, booked a cab. After boarding the cab, they allegedly threatened the driver with a knife near Srinivasa Nagar under the jurisdiction of Bagaluru police station, and demanded money.

When the driver told them he was not carrying any money, the accused allegedly forced him to call a friend to the location. After the friend arrived, the four allegedly attempted to abduct him as well. However, the man managed to escape and immediately alerted the Namma 112 emergency helpline.

Hoysala-164, attached to Yelahanka police station, was dispatched. The officers reportedly reached the spot within 16 minutes. On noticing the police, the accused allegedly attempted to flee. However, the police managed to arrest one of the accused and rescue the person who was being abducted.
