An Assistant Divisional Engineer working in the Operations wing of the Narsapur division in Medak district was arrested on Friday (May 22) by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana while demanding and accepting a bribe for processing official work.

The accused officer, identified as Muddam Ramana Reddy, was arrested in his office when he accepted ₹25,000 from the complainant. The amount was demanded to facilitate the forwarding of 11 work bills worth ₹3.13 lakh to the Divisional Engineer, Electrical Operations, Medak.

The tainted bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused officer. He was taken into custody and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases at Hyderabad. Further investigation is under way.

The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.

The bureau has urged the public to report any demand of bribes by government officials through its toll-free number 1064. Citizens can also reach the agency via WhatsApp at 9440446106, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter), while QR codes displayed in government offices provide additional reporting access.
