The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has decided to organise its annual conclave, Mahanadu, with ‘Stree Shakti’ (women power) as the theme.

The party’s Polit Bureau has approved the proposal to introduce 20 resolutions during the conclave this year.

These decisions were taken during a virtual meeting of the Polit Bureau, which was chaired by party national president and N. Chandrababu Naidu on May 21, 2026 (Thursday).

The meeting was conducted virtually as part of the energy conservation measures. While Mr. Naidu and party’s national working president N. Lokesh participated from the Chief Minister’s camp office, other members joined remotely from various locations.

The meeting, which lasted for more than two hours, focused on the arrangements and agenda-setting for the conclave scheduled to be held on May 27 and 28. Discussions centred on the resolutions to be presented and the broad themes and messaging they would carry.

It was decided to move a total of 20 resolutions — 10 related to Andhra Pradesh, four concerning Telangana, and one linked to the Andaman unit. These apart, four joint resolutions and a key political resolution would also be introduced.

Mr. Naidu directed the leaders to ensure that the ‘Stree Shakti’ theme was reflected prominently in the conduct of the conclave as well as in the speeches delivered there. He said the party should highlight the steps it had taken since its inception for women’s empowerment, women’s rights and political participation.

The TDP supremo also stressed the need for showcasing the government’s efforts to make women stakeholders in every welfare scheme and development initiative. He asked the leaders to hold detailed discussions on welfare programmes, governance reforms, development activities, investments flowing into the State and other major initiatives undertaken by the government.

Mr. Naidu expressed the view that the discussions should trigger wider public debate on the welfare and development programmes being implemented in the State.

He also called for special discussion on the State government’s energy-saving measures being taken up under the campaign, ‘Mana Desam – Mana Badhyata’ (Our Nation – Our Responsibility).

The Polit Bureau further resolved to expose the alleged conspiracies and anarchic politics of rival parties and create greater awareness among the public on those issues.

As part of the programme, presentations would also be made on the history of the TDP and the ideals of party founder N.T. Rama Rao to familiarise the younger generation with the party’s legacy.

‘Hoist party flags’

Though this year’s Mahanadu was being organised in the hybrid format, Mr. Naidu said the spirit and enthusiasm associated with it should remain intact. He called upon the party leaders and cadres to celebrate the Mahanadu like a festival, and asked them to hoist TDP flags atop every house two days ahead of the event.

The TDP chief also directed the party to ensure participation at all levels, from senior leadership to grassroots workers, in the celebrations. The Polit Bureau further decided to install statues of NTR in all clusters as part of the inauguration activities.
