The prime accused in Kolkata’s Gulshan Colony shootout was arrested from Delhi on Sunday (September 21, 2025) night. Mini Firoz is a local strongman in eastern Kolkata who has been absconding for the last 10 days since the violence shook the residential area near Eastern Metropolitan Bypass on September 11.

Mini Firoz or Mohammad Firoz was booked under sections 109/3(5)/324(2)/351(3) of BNS, sections 25/27 of Arms Act and section 9 of West Bengal Maintenance of Public Order Act, the Kolkata Police officials said on Sunday (September 21) night.

“He is being brought on transit remand to Kolkata,” Kolkata Police officials further added. Four others accused in the same case are already in police custody.

A team of Kolkata Police went to Delhi after they got a credible tip off about Mr. Firoz’s location and picked him from his hideout in the national capital.

Mohammad Amber aka Mohammad Nafis, Md. Sajid, Ahmed Hossain alias Md. Madhu, and Raja Khan, were also arrested in the same case. They were all residents of the area. Md. Sajid is said to be a close aid of Mr. Firoz. Police also seized multiple weapons from the accused.

On September 11, Mr. Firoz and his gang members were seen vandalising bikes, assaulting shopowners, and hurling crude country made bombs according to the CCTV footage recovered by the police.

The mayhem began to establish Mr. Firoz’s dominance in the area and continued in multiple rounds for over five hours creating a huge ruckus and panic in the residential area. The main cause of the violence was rivalry between two syndicates.

Locals have accused that Mr. Firoz and his gang were attacking the supporters of Trinamool Congress councillor from Kasba, Sushanta Ghosh.

Last year in November Mr Ghosh survived a murder attempt right outside his home in Kasba. Multiple arrests were made in relation to this crime.
