HYDERABAD

TPCC General Secretary Chanagani Dayakar, on Sunday, accused BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and other party leaders of politicising an issue involving a minor girl and criticised the remarks made by them on the case.

Addressing the media, Mr. Dayakar said it was ‘shameful’ to use a sensitive issue for political purposes. He referred to the arrest of POCSO case accused Bandi Sai Bageerath, stating that the police had acted promptly and sent the accused to jail.

He said that Mr. Rama Rao should refrain from making “irresponsible statements”, adding that such comments were not appropriate given the sensitivity of the issue. He also asserted that the State government was not favouring any individual but was working in the interest of people. He also said that the police system had been effective in curbing drug-related activities, including the use of cocaine and marijuana.
