Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Friday (May 15, 2026) has directed the officials to speed up the process of land acquisition, providing connectivity, development of amenities pertaining to the proposed high-speed rail corridors sanctioned to the State.

Railway officials informed that the detailed project report (DPR) pertaining to Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai high speed rail corridor was ready, incorporating proposals for infrastructure on the line for a length of 671 km. Accordingly, it would require land acquisition on the route spanning 93 km in Telangana.

Land has to be acquired for Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai corridors too over a length of 123 km, they said, requesting the State Government to acquire lands required for setting up railway depots in Kokapet and Shamshabad.

The extent of the land required for the corridors and rail deports were discussed at a review meeting, held by the Chief Secretary, on the three high-speed rail corridors connecting Hyderabad with Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai. Officials from Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, Railways, and representatives of GMR Airport attended the meeting held in Hyderabad on Friday (May 15, 2026).

The officials were instructed to prepare detailed proposals relating to the project — a joint venture between the State Government and Railway Ministry — and they should work in coordination in the preparation of the project reports and its execution.

With the Centre sanctioning high speed rail corridor connecting Hyderabad with Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru, the scope for development of economic corridors in line with the Telangana Rising 2047 vision had risen significantly.

The project would have cascading effect leading to development of industry, IT and tourism sectors besides contributing to future needs of the people.

The Chief Secretary directed the Roads & Buildings department to coordinate with HMDA, GMR Airport and Railway officials in the process.
