Union Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal travelled in an e-rickshaw from the railway station to his residence in Rajasthan’s Bikaner on Thursday (May 14, 2026) to promote fuel conservation.

Mr. Meghwal arrived at Bikaner railway station from Delhi and chose to avoid a convoy of vehicles, opting instead to travel by e-rickshaw.

The MoS, who represents the Bikaner Lok Sabha constituency, said the move was aimed at promoting fuel conservation in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has also reduced the number of vehicles in his convoy and directed the Chief Secretary, senior officials, and public representatives to limit vehicles in their convoys to save petrol and diesel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on May 11, made an appeal for austerity and urged citizens to curb the use of fuel driven vehicles amid the global energy crises triggered by tensions in West Asia.

The Prime Minister suggested reducing petrol and diesel consumption, using metro rail services in cities, car pooling, increased use of electric vehicles, utilising railway services for parcel movement, and working from home to conserve foreign exchange.
