Telangana government will launch the second phase of Indiramma Housing scheme in Adilabad on June 2, on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day, announced Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday (May 12, 2026). The guidelines would be discussed at the State Cabinet meeting to be held on May 21.

The Minister made other key announcements pertaining to the government houses for poor in Core Urban Region (CURE), a special drive to allot double bedroom (2BHK) houses already constructed or under construction, selection of beneficiaries within eight kilometres radius and type of lands that should be considered for proposals to construct more Indiramma Houses.

Indiramma Houses in Hyderabad

Mr. Reddy directed officials to ensure eligible people in Hyderabad who have their own lands are provided with sanction letters alloting of Indiramma Houses, by the end of the month.

At the district-wise meeting held with legislators, MPs and in-charge Ministers of Hyderabad and Rangareddy, the Housing Minister spoke at length about 2BHK houses. He said that the previous (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) government allotted the houses 20-30 kms away from the livelihood source, which is making the beneficiaries reluctant to occupy the houses.

Beneficiaries within 5-8 kms

To avoid this issue from reoccurring, Mr. Reddy beneficiaries of Indiramma Houses should be selected within five to eight kilometres of their residences. Directions were issued to prepare proposals for the construction of Indiramma Houses on government lands, Bhoodhan lands, slums, and places where houses were previously constructed under various schemes but currently dilapidated, constituency wise.

2BHK houses allotment special drive

The officials were also asked to take up a special drive to allot 2BHK houses already constructed or under construction to beneficiaries residing within five to eight kms of the housing colonies. Drinking water, sewerage, electricity and other basic infrastructure should be provided there.
