Two persons were killed and at least five passengers injured after a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus lost control, rammed into a motorcycle and overturned into a roadside gorge on the Bidar-Zaheerabad road on Tuesday (May 12, 2026) morning.

The deceased, who were riding the motorcycle, were identified as P. Arun, 24, a mobile repair technician, and P. Narsimuhulu, 54, both residents of Mirzapur (B) village in Sangareddy.

The accident was reported between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. while the bus was travelling from Bidar to Zaheerabad. According to police, the driver lost control of the speeding bus near a sharp turn. The vehicle first crashed into the motorcycle before overturning into the roadside gorge.

Police said the impact of the collision was severe, with the helmets of the motorcyclists found completely shattered at the scene. Arun and Narsimuhulu died on the spot. Preliminary probe revealed that the accident was caused by overspeeding and the bus driver’s negligence.

At least five passengers travelling in the bus sustained injuries in the mishap. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment and are said to be in a stable condition.

The bodies of the deceased were shifted for postmortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
