Meanwhile, Cyberabad Traffic Police booked 137 motorists during its weekend special drive.

Among them, 113 were two-wheeler riders, five were three-wheeler drivers, 18 were four-wheeler drivers and one was operating a heavy vehicle.

Police said 105 offenders recorded BAC levels ranging between 36 mg and 200 mg per 100 ml, 18 recorded between 201 mg and 300 mg, while 14 recorded levels between 301 mg and 550 mg.

All the offenders will be produced before the court.

Cyberabad police warned that motorists found driving under the influence and causing fatal accidents would be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which carries a maximum punishment of 10 years’ imprisonment along with a fine.

Police also said that during the past week, 198 drunken driving cases were disposed of by courts in Cyberabad, with four offenders receiving fine and jail terms, four awarded fine along with social service, and 190 let off with fines.

Traffic police said there would be zero tolerance towards drunken driving violations and that special drives would continue across Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

Motorists were urged to cooperate with enforcement teams and avoid driving after consuming alcohol.
