Summer showers are likely to continue across Kerala, triggered by the multiple weather systems that formed over the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.

According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday, an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over the southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep off the Kerala coast. Another upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the Comorin area and neighbourhood, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal around May 11.

Meanwhile, a trough in the easterly runs from the upper air cyclonic circulation over southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep off Kerala coast to Marathwada across coastal Karnataka, north interior Karnataka, and Madhya Maharashtra. Under the influence of the systems, the State is likely to receive thunderstorms for the next four days.

A yellow alert has been issued for seven districts—Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam—on Sunday, warning of isolated heavy rains.
