The Great Eastern Medical School and Hospital in Srikakulam has received recognition from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, said the hospital’s chief patron B. Bhaskara Rao on Thursday. The accreditation permits the hospital to offer training for surgeons from May 5 to 8, for “Care of the Critically III Surgical Patient,” to be held in the hospital premises.

Dr. Bhaskara Rao said that the joint training programme of the Royal College and GEMS would enable surgeons to know about the latest technologies being used in operations, impact of artificial intelligence in the field of medicine and exchange of the knowledge among senior doctors of both the countries.

He thanked Aditya Educational Society vice chairman P. Rahu Ram for playing a vital role in securing accreditation for the hospital. Dr. Bhaskara said that GEMS is the first hospital to attain such recognition among the hospitals in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region.
