The United Democratic Front (UDF) made a clean sweep across 14 constituencies in Ernakulam district as the Left Democratic Front (LDF) suffered its worst-ever drubbing in the district over the past one-and-a-half decades.

Five segments that stood with the Left front in the 2021 elections, including Kalamassery, Kunnathunad, Kochi, Vypeen, and Kothamangalam, shifted their allegiance to the UDF. The decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to allocate a majority of seats in the district to its alliance partner Twenty20 failed miserably as the corporate-backed political outfit could not make any impact on the final outcome. The Left had won three seats in the elections held in 2011 and had increased its tally to five in 2016 and 2021 respectively.
