The AIADMK, which hoped to capture power this time after being in the Opposition for five years, can derive consolation from the Assemble election result trends that many of its leaders have been ahead of their nearest rivals in their respective constituencies.
As of 3.45 p.m. on Monday (May 4), the AIADMK was ahead in 47 constituencies; the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) in four constituencies; the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in three; and the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) in one.
