Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in “vote theft” to secure victory the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters in Wayanad, Kerala, on Saturday (September 20, 2025), the Congress MP said he would reveal “a hydrogen bomb” that would leave no one in India in doubt regarding this, adding that it would “completely shatter the reality of the situation.”

“Because we have open-and-shut proof for what we are saying… You have seen my first and second press conferences. We have black-and-white proof – we are not saying anything without proof. We have 100% proof of a number of things that have happened, and these are going to come out soon,” said Mr. Gandhi.

Asked if it has something to do with the Lok Sabha poll results in Varanasi, represented by the Prime Minister, Mr. Gandhi said “that was left to the media to guess and speculate.”

“I will do my job and I will deliver on my job,” he added.

Mr. Gandhi said a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe is going on in Karnataka into the “vote theft” allegations related to the Aland Assembly constituency.

Slams CEC

“The CID has specifically asked for information on the phone numbers that have been used to carry out this ‘vote chori’. Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), is not giving the information the Karnataka CID is asking for. There can be no bigger indictment of the CEC than this,” he added.
