BC communities hopeful of political reservations in local body elections

BC Dedicated Commission Chairman Rajiv Ranjan Mishra’s visit to North Andhra districts became a ray of hope for most backward classes which could not get political reservations for many decades despite having significant population in Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts.

The State government promised to provide 34% reservation for backward classes in ensuing local body elections. In accordance to the guidelines of the Supreme Court, 2026 February, it has appointed the one man Commission headed by Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, a retired IAS officer who completed his tour in North Andhra districts recently.
