The Vice-Chancellor (V-C) of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) has asked V. Lissy Mathew, Professor of Malayalam, who retired from service on April 30, to submit her reply within a week on charges of alleged irregularities in the printing and proposed release of the biography of Chattampi Swamikal and the award of an undergraduate degree to an ineligible candidate.
Ms. Mathew rejected the allegations and accused the authorities of acting with vengeance. V-C Ciza Thomas had issued a charge memo to Ms. Mathew on April 29 as a follow-up of the action taken following the last-minute cancellation of the release of Sri Tirthapada Puranam, a biography of Chattampi Swamikal in 11 volumes, published by the varsity.
The release of the book was cancelled after the authorities reportedly found that only four volumes were printed, while the other bound volumes kept in a box were blank.
