B. Sumathi takes charge as Malkajgiri Police Commissioner

Senior IPS officer B. Sumathi assumed charge as the new Commissioner of the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate on Friday (May 1, 2026), becoming the first woman to hold the post.

Expressing both pride and a sense of responsibility, Ms. Sumathi said her foremost priority would be to ensure transparent and efficient policing for the public. She noted that the commissionerate has long been regarded as a peaceful region and emphasised that maintaining law and order without compromise would remain central to her approach.
