New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said, on April 29, 2026, that he will encourage King Charles III to return the Koh-i-Noor diamond to India.
Mr. Mamdani said that “if I was to speak to the King separately from that, I would probably encourage him to return the Koh-i-Noor diamond,” as the King is on a state visit to New York City.
