The Thiruvananthapuram district convention of Kerala Vidyabhyasa Samithi on Friday declared its firm resolve to resist all attempts at ‘saffronisation’ in the education sector.

Inaugurating the convention, Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] district secretary V. Joy cautioned against the Sangh Parivar’s agenda to disrupt the academic strides made in the State. Academic experts, teachers, students and other activists must join hands to resist such efforts.

Federation of University Teachers’ Associations’ (FUTA) general secretary S. Nazeeb, All Kerala Private College Teachers Association State president A. Nishanth, Federation of State Employees and Teachers Organisations (FSETO) State president T.K.A. Shafi and Kerala Gazetted Officers Association (KGOA) State president M. Shajahan also spoke.

Former Kerala University Pro-Vice Chancellor P.P. Ajayakumar (chairperson), A.R. Rajan (convener) and A.G. Oleena were elected as the district office-bearers of the organisation.
