Polling in the Poompuhar Assembly constituency of Mayiladuthurai district was disrupted briefly on Thursday (April 23, 2026) after a head constable on election duty was stabbed with a screwdriver by an ex-serviceman at a polling booth.
According to the police, the incident occurred at booth no. 324 set up at the Jamaliya Aided Elementary School in Porayar, where polling was under way.
