Residents of some gated communities in Chennai and neighbouring districts got to cast their vote within their premises in the Assembly election on Thursday, a move aimed at improving voter convenience.

However, many residents in the southern suburbs said they missed out on the facility despite applying for it. Residents of Prince Village Phase II, Tondiarpet, voted in large numbers as they had two polling booths, including a green booth to promote the environment awareness, set up in the party hall.
