Climatic shifts and other factors have adversely affected the fisheries sector in Kozhikode, reducing catches and driving up fish prices.

At Matsyafed outlets, cut and cleaned seer fish was being sold at ₹1,500, king fish at ₹900, white pomfret at ₹1,000, tuna at ₹440, prawns (different varieties) between ₹500 and ₹640, sardine at ₹280 and Indian salmon at ₹320, reflecting tightening supply.
