Governor clears MLC nominations of Azharuddin, Kodandaram

Bringing an end to uncertainty and political speculation, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla approved the pending nominations of Minister for Minority Welfare Mohammad Azharuddin and academic M. Kodandaram to the Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota.

Though an official notification is awaited, sources confirmed that the government has received the nod from the Governor’s office. The move has cleared the way for Mr. Azharuddin to continue in the Cabinet, just days ahead of the April 30 constitutional deadline for him to secure membership in either House of the Legislature.
