The Karuvannur Service Cooperative Bank on Friday released ₹10,000 to Anandavalli, an elderly woman from Irinjalakuda, who was allegedly mocked by Union Minister of State for Tourism Suresh Gopi during the Kalunku Souhruda Samvadam, an interaction with the public, for seeking help to retrieve her deposit from the scam-hit bank.

The amount was given to help her purchase medicines. Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] workers brought Anandavalli to the bank following the controversy.

During the recent interaction, she had requested Mr. Gopi’s help to get back her deposit of ₹1.75 lakh in the bank. The Minister had retorted that she should approach the Chief Minister instead.
