T.N. Assembly election: 163 FIRs registered over social media posts violating poll code

EVMs being dispatched from NKT Girls Higher Secondary School to polling booths across the city ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 23

A total of 163 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered so far over social media posts on charges of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), which has been in place in view of the April 23 Assembly election in Tamil Nadu.

As many as 2,180 URLs have been blocked/taken down by social media platforms. Officials have registered FIRs over instances of pamphlets, including those resembling cheques for ₹8,000, being seized.
