Campaigning for the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections ended on Tuesday (April 21, 2026). Polling will be held on 152 seats across 16 districts and about 3.60 crore voters will determine the fate of 1,452 candidates.
All the districts in north Bengal and several districts in south Bengal will go to polls on Thursday (April 23, 2026). In the north, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinjapur, and Malda districts will vote. In south Bengal, Murshidabad, Paschim Bardhaman, Birbhum, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Bankura, Purulia, and Jhargram will go to polls.
