Vinay Kulkarni, Congress MLA, has been convicted for the murder of a BJP leader in Dharwad in 2016.

A special court of sessions for criminal cases against former and present MPs and MLAs has made scathing observations against three police officers for openly admitting that they had tendered “false evidence” under oath before the magistrate in the murder case involving Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni, calling such act by the police officers a “cavalier” act that erodes public trust in the justice system.
