Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of playing politics with women’s reservation, Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah questioned why the BJP government failed to operationalise 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State legislatures even though the Women’s Reservation Bill had been passed in 2023.

Speaking to reporters at Mysuru airport on April 20, Mr. Siddaramaiah said if the BJP is sincere about extending reservation to women, it would have implemented the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2023.
