With nominations for seven municipal bodies – including three municipal corporations – opening in two days, political momentum in the State has surged. The Congress has named its mayoral picks for all the three corporations, while the BJP has set up a manifesto panel and launched back-to-back meetings to lock in its strategy and candidates.

On Sunday, the Congress named former Haryana Mahila Congress president Sudha Bhardwaj as its mayoral candidate for the Panchkula Municipal Corporation. The party had on Saturday picked Kulwinder Kaur as its mayoral candidate for Ambala Municipal Corporation, which is reserved for Backward Class (B category) women, and Kamal Dewan, son of former MLA Dev Raj Dewan, for Sonipat Municipal Corporation mayoral post.
