Body of missing Assam polling official retrieved

Police in central Assam’s Karbi Anglong district have recovered the decomposed body of a polling official, who went missing during polling hours on April 9.

A district official said on Sunday (April 19, 2026) that the body of Cornelius Kindu, who was serving as the third officer at the Sarpo Kathar Lower Primary School polling station, was recovered from the remote Rongwongwey area. Locals spotted the body, in an advanced state of decomposition, on Saturday (April 18, 2026).
