The death of eight persons in an accident in Yemmiganur mandal of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh had cast a shadow of gloom on residents of Kanayakanahalli in Belur taluk of Hassan district in Karnataka.

The deceased were part of a group of 20 persons, all relatives, from Kanayakanahalli and Shettigere villages in Belur taluk of Hassan district and from Uddevu village in Chikkamagaluru district, who came together for a trip to Mantralayam in Andhra Pradesh. They left from their villages around 12 p.m. on April 15.
