The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has severed its short-lived alliance with Humayun Kabir’s party and announced that it will contest the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections independently.
In a statement issued on X on early Friday (April 10, 2026) the party said recent remarks attributed to Mr. Kabir had raised concerns. Any statements, they said, that questioned the integrity of Muslims cannot be associated with, underscoring that AIMIM could not be associated with such positions
