Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) on Thursday (April 9, 2026) appealed to its ally Indian National Congress to withdraw its candidate against the opposing party NCP in the Baramati bypolls to be held on April 23.

NCP(SP) MLA Rohit Pawar met Maharashtra Congress president Harshawardhan Sapkal in the early hours on Thursday (April 9, 2026). Soon thereafter, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar called Mr. Sapkal, even as Sharad Pawar dialled Mallikarjun Kharge with the appeal.
