No devotee of Ayyappa would have moved SC challenging exclusion of women of menstruating age: Justice Nagarathna

Justice B.V. Nagarathna, a member of the nine-judge Sabarimala Bench, said on Wednesday that a devotee of Lord Ayyappa would not have filed the writ petition in 2006 challenging the exclusion of women of menstruating age from the Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala.

“Can any devotees of Lord Ayyappa file a writ petition challenging this? No. If a non-devotee, a person who is not concerned with the temple, challenges it, can this court entertain that writ petition?” Justice Nagarathna asked.
