The promise of jobs, especially for youth, is a highlight in the manifestos of both the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Front and the Congress, ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections.

While the Left Front manifesto released on Saturday (April 4, 2026) promised one permanent job for every family, the Congress, which announced its manifesto on Tuesday (April 7, 2026), vowed that all vacant government posts will be filled in the first Cabinet meeting if the party comes to power.
