District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya issued orders suspending a panchayat secretary for attending duty in a drunken state.

Ms. Rajakumari Ganiya conducted a surprise visit to the village secretariat at Pasurapadu in Gospadu mandal on Tuesday. During her inspection, she found out that the panchayat secretary was reportedly intoxicated and immediately ordered for a breathe analyser test to be conducted on the officer. As the test came back positive, the Collector issued orders to suspend the panchayat secretary.

Similarly, the Collector issued show cause notices to the staff who did not register their attendance online. She also ordered the framing of charges against a Deputy Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) for negligence in the ‘Swachh Gram – Swachh Ward’ program.

On the occasion, Ms. Rajakumari Ganiya said employees and staff of government offices should follow discipline and transparency, and there should not be any scope of negligence in providing services to the people.
