The State-level Dasara CM Cup Sports Meet will be held in Mysuru from September 22 to 25 as part of the Dasara festivities. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event at 4.30 p.m. on September 22.

Chethan, Commissioner, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, told reporters here on Thursday that the meet is organised every year at taluk, district, division, and State levels to identify sporting talents from rural areas. This year, a special category for local sports has been included, making it a five-category event, he informed.

As many as 3,230 sportspersons, including 646 from each division, will take part in 26 disciplines to be held across 13 venues in the city. For the first time, a dedicated portal — www.dasaracmcup.com/dyes — has been launched to provide details of events, venues, officials, and results, and to send individual updates to participants, he said.

Apart from mainstream games, local events such as Blind Chess, Cycle Polo, Karate, Bodybuilding, and Chamundi Hill Climb have been included in the meet. The Chamundi Hill Climb event carries cash prizes of ₹10,000, ₹7,000, and ₹5,000, while prizes of ₹8,000, ₹5,000, and ₹2,500 will be given to winners in individual categories. Separate prizes are also fixed for group events.

The sporting events will be held in multiple venues, including Chamundi Vihara Stadium (athletics, basketball, hockey, volleyball, etc.), Manasagangotri Indoor Stadium (badminton), Mysore University Pavilion (football, kabaddi, ball badminton), Maharaja’s Indoor Stadium (judo), Yuvaraja’s Indoor Stadium (taekwondo), Devaraj Urs Pavilion (wrestling), Mysore Tennis Club (lawn tennis), and Ring Road (cycling).

Dasara Sub-Committee Special Officer and MUDA Secretary A.T. Johnson, Assistant Director Bhaskar Nayak, and committee members were present.
