In a powerful tale of resilience and determination, Warangal-based para taekwondo athlete Ellavula Goutham Yadav (27) has climbed to World No. 2 rank in the Senior Male P51 category, according to the latest rankings released by World Para Taekwondo.

The achievement marks a milestone in Goutham’s sporting journey, particularly given the challenges he has overcome. In 2020, his promising career was interrupted by a road accident. Refusing to accept defeat, and supported strongly by his family, he embarked on a determined recovery and return to international competition.

His perseverance has since translated into consistent success on the global stage. Goutham Yadav has emerged as one of India’s most accomplished para taekwondo athletes, bringing pride to Telangana and the nation through his performances.

His notable international achievements include a gold medal at the World Para Taekwondo Championship 2024 in Bahrain, followed by another gold at the 5th KTA International Para Poomsae Championship 2024 in London. He added to his medal tally with a silver at the 10th Asian Para Taekwondo Championship 2025 in Malaysia. At the national level, he is a three-time senior national champion, establishing his dominance in the sport.

Speaking about his achievement, Goutham said, “My long-term goal remains to secure an Olympic medal for India.”
