Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy on Monday said that 100 day action plan is being taken up under’ Jala Dhara’ programme and it would enable the district to overcome water scarcity during summer season and ensure adequate water supply for agriculture fields in next Kharif season. Speaking to media here, he said that the works would be taken up in four phases to achieve the desired goals of Jala Dhara programme.

According to him, the government agencies would focus on protection of water tanks, improvement of groundwater levels, strengthening of canals would be taken up under this programme. The officials of departments such as groundwater, irrigation, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and others would work in tandem to improve water sources in all levels.

Mr. Ramsundar Reddy said that the Jala Dhara programme would be a boon for villages to overcome water scarcity during summer season. He hoped that irrigation water would be provided to barren lands in next Kharif season. He hoped that many local people would get works and livelihood opportunities under the programme.
