A man reportedly beat up his seven-year-old son with an iron rod before branding his body with a hot spatula for tearing the seat of an autorickshaw at Vommangi village of Prathipadu mandal in Kakinada district. The boy has survived with multiple burn injuries on his body, mostly on his left cheek.

“The accused, Chandranna, brutally beat up his son for tearing the cover of an autorickshaw in their street. The boy has been admitted to the Government General Hospital, Kakinada, after first aid was provided in Prathipadu government hospital. The boy’s mother died a couple of years ago,” Prathipadu Sub-Inspector S. Lakshmi Kantham told The Hindu.

The accused, a daily wage labourer, has been absconding. The police registered a case and the investigation is on.
