The much-anticipated sequel to Emraan Hashmi’s hit film Awarapan, titled Awarapan 2, has been creating a buzz ever since the makers announced its production. Recently, a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot featuring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani went viral, with Emraan looking exactly the same as he did in the 2007 film.
Awarapan 2 is produced by Vishesh Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films. Shooting for the film began in September 2025. While announcing the start of production, the makers shared a picture of a placard that read “Mahurat Shot.”

In the viral video, Emraan Hashmi can be seen sporting his long-haired look, just like in the 2007 film Awarapan. Is Awarapan 2 release date postponed?
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Awarapan 2 is expected to hit theaters during the Independence Day 2026 weekend. The film was earlier scheduled for release on April 3, 2026. However, an official confirmation from the makers regarding the release date is still awaited.
Not Mohit Suri, this director is directing Awarapan 2
For the unversed, the 2007 film Awarapan was directed by Mohit Suri and it receibed widespread attention becoming a cult. However, the second instalment of Emraan Hashmi’s film is directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqi. It is produced under the banner of Vishesh Films.
