A surprise inspection by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at the Sub-Registrar Office in Warangal (R.O.), Hanumakonda district has revealed large-scale irregularities, including unaccounted cash, suspicious digital transactions and the presence of unauthorised agents operating within the office.

According to the officials, the raid was conducted on Thursday (April 2, 2026) by the ACB officials of the Warangal range. During the inspection, as many as 20 unauthorised agents and document writers were found inside the premises. Officials seized ₹47,450 in unaccounted cash along with 70 unregistered documents.

A scrutiny of mobile phones belonging to document writers reportedly exposed multiple WhatsApp conversations with Sub-Registrar Office officials, identified as SRO-I Jamalapuram Ramanarsimha Rao and SRO-II Davuluri Anand. These chats indicated PhonePe transactions amounting to approximately ₹42.03 lakh over the past year, raising serious concerns over alleged illicit dealings.

The inspection also revealed that 204 registered documents remained undelivered and were still in the possession of the sub-registrars, pointing to procedural lapses.

Simultaneous searches carried out at the residences of the two officials led to the recovery of net cash amount of ₹24.61 lakh, along with 819.5 grams of gold ornaments and 2.6 kilograms of silver articles. In addition, fixed deposits worth ₹30.10 lakh in Kapil Chits were found at the residence of SRO-II Davuluri Anand.

The ACB stated that several other irregularities were noticed during the search and that a detailed report would be submitted to the government for further action.
