Deputy Commissioner B. Fouzia Taranum on Tuesday clarified that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG cylinders in Kalaburagi district and urged the public not to pay heed to rumours circulating on social media.

In a statement, she said that adequate stocks of fuel are available with oil companies and at petrol bunks across the district and supplies are being maintained without disruption.

Similarly, there is no interruption in the supply of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders, she added.

The Deputy Commissioner cautioned that strict legal action will be taken against those spreading false information about shortage of fuel and cooking gas.

She noted that the distribution of LPG cylinders is proceeding as per norms and appealed to consumers not to panic or crowd gas agencies.

Urban consumers can book domestic cylinders only after 25 days from the previous supply, while rural consumers can place bookings after 45 days, she said.

Ms. Taranum said that unnecessary rush at agencies, triggered by misinformation, is leading to avoidable confusion.

She also advised domestic and commercial users, including hotels and restaurants, not to stock excess cylinders. The district administration is in constant coordination with oil companies such as HPCL, IOCL and BPCL to ensure adequate supply in line with demand, she added.

Reassuring the public, she said that there is no need for panic and appealed to citizens to rely only on official information.
