A case was registered against a Sub-Inspector of Police by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday (March 30) while he was caught taking bribe in Nagarkurnool district.

Thimmajipet police station SI Chalamalla Hari Prasad Reddy was booked for initially demanding ₹30,000 on March 5 and later accepting ₹20,000 from a complainant on March 12. The bribe was allegedly taken to release vehicles seized in a case booked against the complainant’s younger brother.

The ACB said the officer performed his duties improperly and dishonestly, constituting an offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He was arrested and produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases court in Nampally. The case is under investigation.

The ACB has urged the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll free number 1064 or via its official social media platforms, assuring confidentiality of complainants.
