The golden jubilee celebrations of the Department of Studies in Business Administration at the B.N. Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences (BIMS), University of Mysore, concluded here on Saturday, with the formal launch of the alumni association and felicitation to D. Anand, a senior professor, who has retired after an inspiring journey in the department.

The Mysore University MBA (BIMS) Alumni Association was launched by M.R. Jaishankar, founder and executive chairman, Brigade Group, an alumnus of the Department of Business Administration. He was the chief guest of the event and delivered the valedictory address.

In his inaugural address, Vice-Chancellor N.K. Lokanath said the future of management education lies in being intelligent, inclusive, and immersive and added that he was confident that BIMS is well-positioned to lead this transformation.

“Let the golden jubilee serve as a renewed commitment to excellence in education, impactful research, and meaningful engagement with industry and society. I congratulate the entire BIMS family — past and present — for their remarkable journey. May the coming decades bring even greater achievements and global recognition,” he said.

He said a strong alumni network is the backbone of any great institution and added that he was confident that the initiative would further enhance the global footprint of BIMS. Institutions like BIMS must evolve in the era of rapid technological transformation, globalisation, and interdisciplinary challenges.

Prof. Lokanath said Prof. Anand, who is retiring after four decades of service, has not merely taught subjects; he has shaped values, inspired thinking, and built character. His contribution goes far beyond academics. “He has been a pillar of strength for students and colleagues. I am sure he will continue to inspire generations to come,” he said.

The alumni association felicitated Prof. Anand on the occasion, and professors Shivaraj and S.J. Manjunath delivered a felicitation address.

BIMS chairman R. Mahesh presided. Many past students of the department proudly attended the event and recalled their memories as alumnae of the department.
