The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has announced a 30% reduction in fares on Metro AC and Metro Deluxe services within Hyderabad limits in view of the prevailing situation of panic buying of petrol, diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Hyderabad.

TGSRTC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Y Nagi Reddy announced the decision, given the difficulties commuters have been facing, waiting in long winding queues for hours to refuel their vehicles.

He urged the public to opt public transport. “Why suffer petrol hardships when RTC buses are available?” he asked.

The TGSRTC stated that the concession aims to provide a comfortable and affordable alternative to private transport, while also addressing broader concerns of fuel conservation and traffic congestion.

Mr. Reddy noted that commuters could save both time and fuel by opting for RTC services instead of standing in queues at fuel stations. He added that reduced reliance on private vehicles would contribute to conserving fuel during the ongoing shortage, which in turn would support the national economy.

Underscoring environmental benefits, he said fewer vehicles on the road would ease traffic congestion and reduce pollution levels. He also encouraged passengers to use electric buses operated by the Corporation as part of efforts to promote cleaner mobility.
