The Syro-Malabar Church offered tributes to Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy, former Archbishop of Thrissur, who passed away on Wednesday.
A visionary and a servant leader, he had served as the first bishop of the Eparchy of Mananthavady, the second bishop of the Eparchy of Thamarassery, and later as the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archeparchy of Thrissur. His legacy is one of faith, simplicity, and profound pastoral care, an embodiment of the Gospel in both word and deed, the Church said in a release issued here.
He was known for his profound humility and genuine affection for all. He possessed a remarkable ability to see and affirm the goodness in everyone he met. Despite holding a high office, he lived with striking simplicity, never seeking accolades or comfort for himself. Instead, he poured his energy into the mission of the Church, driven by love, service, and deep faith, it said.
